Lucy Pullen (Born 1971) is a Canadian artist based in New York with long-term support from the Canada Council for the Arts. Her work moves between the vernacular and the esoteric. Pullen is an assistant professor on leave from the Department of Visual Arts at the University of Victoria in British Columbia, Canada.
Solo exhibitions took place at Romer Young Gallery in San Francisco (2012); the Henry Art Gallery in Seattle (2011); Artspeak and the Contemporary Art Gallery in Vancouver, Canada (2010, 2003); Art Metropole in Toronto (2005); and Eye Level Gallery in Halifax Nova Scotia (1995). Her work was presented with Artspeak in Festival of Independents Tate Modern (2010) London UK; and with The Thing Quarterly at both the NADA and the New York Art Book Fair (2008) among others.
She has worked with graduate and undergraduate students, and initiated several unique interdisiplinary collaborations. For Pullen, the cosmic ray is the new super-ball. |
